System Assessment Capability (SAC) Stochastic Simulator
SAC is the first total-system stochastic simulator to address inventory distribution, environmental release and transport, and impacts to human health and ecological, economic and cultural resources from hundreds of radiological and chemical waste disposal sites for the entire Hanford Site in southeast Washington State.
As a stochastic simulator, SAC provides assessment of cumulative impacts for the Hanford Site with an estimate of uncertainty arising from uncertainty in disposal inventory, input parameters, alternative conceptual models and other factors. Simulations are carried out using a dedicated 132-node computer cluster to support the extensive computational load.
